Color that feels like your own
Having very pale or dark lips can be a huge knock on your confidence. You walk around seeing these beautiful people with luscious lips and want the same for yourself. There’s nothing wrong with that.
Lip blushing can be done with a very subtle and natural color or a bold red; it’s totally up to you! We specialize in very natural looks and believe that it looks best on most clients.
What lip blushing can do
- Enhances your lips’ natural color while adding definition and fullness.
- Brings life back to pale or discolored lips.
- Corrects asymmetry for a more balanced appearance.
- Ends lipstick smudges and constant reapplication.
Our team customizes the shade to complement your skin tone so the result looks natural and beautiful. Lip blushing pairs naturally with microblading or nano brows if you are building a full permanent makeup look.
Healed results
Will it look like lipstick?
We keep our lip blushing very natural so it will look subtle unless you choose to go with a bold red or pink. In that case, it will look something similar to lipstick. The main difference is that it will not be as shiny as lipstick and look as if your lip blushing color is your real lip color.
How much is lip blushing?
You have the option of getting your lips done with Mahnaz Grand Master (Founder of Elite) or with our Master Artists who have been doing lip blushing for over 5 years. Mahnaz charges more as she has people request her from around the world.
Before your appointment
- 01
Confirm your appointment
Double-check the date and time of your appointment and confirm with the studio to avoid any misunderstandings. Being punctual and organized helps you start your PMU journey on the right foot.
- 02
Fill out consent forms
Have all necessary consent forms filled out before your visit. This saves time during your appointment so you can focus on discussing your desired look with your artist. Please be aware that services may be filmed and used for social media marketing (an additional consent form must be signed).
- 03
Avoid caffeine and alcohol
In the days leading up to your appointment, avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol. They can thin your blood and increase bleeding during the procedure.
- 04
Hydrate your skin
Drink plenty of water in the days before your appointment. Well-hydrated skin holds pigment better and gives a more even color payoff.
- 05
Avoid retinol products
Retinol increases skin sensitivity and thins the skin, making it more prone to bleeding. Avoid retinol on the treatment area for at least one week before your appointment.
- 06
Get a good night’s sleep
Being well-rested helps you feel more comfortable during the procedure and promotes better healing afterward.
- 07
Communicate clearly with your artist
Think about the look you want beforehand and be ready to share your expectations, preferences and any concerns, so you and your artist are on the same page.
If you have ever had a cold sore, speak to your doctor before your appointment about preventive medication (similar to Valtrex).
Healing and aftercare
The most important thing that goes into a successful microblading or permanent makeup procedure is how well you follow the aftercare. Keep the area moist with Aquaphor all day, 24/7, for at least 10 days. This allows the color to set in and keeps oxygen from changing the color while it settles.
Do not wash the procedure area for 24–48 hours. Avoid for 10 days: makeup on the procedure area, extreme sweating, swimming, tanning, hot saunas, and laser, chemical or Botox treatments.
Aquaphor is your best friend
- Use a cotton swab to apply Aquaphor ointment throughout the day for 2–4 weeks — the area should never be dry.
- For the first 4 hours after the procedure, pat the area with a paper towel every 30 minutes to remove excess blood or fluid.
- Do not touch the procedure area with your fingers; they may carry bacteria and cause an infection.
- We suggest Aquaphor because it tends not to cause inflammation. If you are allergic, Vaseline will do just fine.
- Always use a “total sun block” sunscreen until the area has fully healed, to prevent future fading of the pigment.
- Do not use products containing AHAs (for example glycolic or lactic acids) on the procedure area, as they fade the color.
Additional instructions for lips
- Ice your lips every 30 minutes on the day of the procedure to prevent bruising and swelling.
- Avoid for 1 day: toothpaste and hot foods.
- Avoid for 3 days: teeth whiteners, spicy food and drinks, lemon, salt and vinegar.
- Use a straw for coffee, wine and any drinks that may stain.
- Wear a hat to shield the area from the sun when you go outside.
What affects how long it lasts
Skin type
Oily skin tends to break down pigment more quickly than dry or normal skin, which can shorten the life of your permanent makeup.
Lifestyle
Excessive sun exposure, heavy sweating and skincare with harsh chemicals all contribute to premature fading.
Quality of the pigment
High-quality pigments retain their color and vibrancy for longer. We use high-quality vegan pigments that fade gradually rather than turning a different color.
Tips to extend your results
- Always follow the aftercare instructions provided by your artist.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen to protect your PMU from fading.
- Avoid skincare products with harsh chemicals on or near the treated area.
- Schedule touch-up appointments as recommended to maintain color and shape.
Is lip blushing painful?
This is one of the top questions we get: does permanent makeup hurt? The short answer is no. Clients are always pleasantly surprised to find it is not nearly as painful as they imagined, because we use a medical-grade numbing cream.
Our numbing cream combines three ingredients — lidocaine, benzocaine and tetracaine — for a very strong numbing effect. Some clients feel slightly uncomfortable with the “scratching” sensation or sound, but most are surprised by how little they feel, and some even fall asleep during their appointment.
Comfort varies by area — lip blushing receives more numbing time than brows.
Frequently asked questions
We change people’s lives.
Q 01How long does it last?
Lip Blushing lasts 2-3 years and varies depending on your skin type and lifestyle. Lip blushing done on oily skin tends to fade faster than dry or normal skin.
Q 02What’s the healing process look like?
Your lips will need to heal for 10 days before you see the final result. During that healing process, the color of your lips will be slightly off and they might scab. You then come in for a follow up appointment 4-6 weeks after the initial procedure. Read the full aftercare guide.
Q 03What if I get cold sores?
If you have had a cold sore in the past, you will need to advise your doctor and take a medicine similar to Valtrex to prevent you from getting a cold sore after the treatment.
